We were asked by the design team to produce a lighting scheme that would seek to be discreet in its approach against the backdrop of the stunning refurbished roof, whilst offering total functionality. The scheme had to have the ability to enhance the roof structure, and yet enable the function of the space, to include anything from a night time reception of intimacy, whilst being able to hold future council meetings. This was achieved by introducing a simple suspended track system. This allowed for CDMT discharge luminaires that would allow for general lighting and exhibitions with required levels of 400-500 lux, and halogen luminaires using AR111, these with differing beam angles to create atmosphere and mood. The black three circuit track allowed for two circuits of lighting alone, whilst one circuit remained as a designated emergency circuit. The use of a small 3watt LED for the emergency has been used to good effect. The whole scheme blends in well using the small and neat track profile.
